Dressage Sport Boots

I blame this post on Karen at Not-So-Speedy Dressage. :-P

Penn is using Mikey's old DSBs that I think are 2 years old. Mikey did a good job chewing them up when we'd practice flying changes (he'd interfere something fierce up front and ripped a whole section of boot off). Penn is doing a good job chewing them up as well because he just plain interferes.

How is Karen to blame? She posted about sale on DSBs from Riding Warehouse.

I will probably end up ordering new boots because this is a sale and mine are chewed and ugly and not fit for public viewing. I am usually very conservative in color- Black/White, Black/Black, White/White. Maybe Navy mixed in. Maybe.

Holla at the color options. And glossy/patent options.

Soooooo please vote for something that will look nice on Penn (generic bay, 4 socks):

Note: Pink is just there because it's an option. But not one I'm actually considering.
If I had unlimited funds I would buy:

  • Original Black with White Fleece for everyday use
  • Original Brown with White Fleece for trail riding and what little jumping we will do.
  • Glossy Silver with Black Fleece for in public at shows and clinics.
  • Original Navy with White Fleece for just because when I'm feeling matchy matchy with my navy saddle pads (I only have Navy and Black).

I like the Black/Black (glossy and original) and the Original White with Black Fleece too. Can I just have them all? Except the Glossy with White Fleece- I don't know if it's the pictures or if it's actually like that, but the white fleece looks dirty compared to the glossy surfaces when it's never been used!

So basically, my brain is saying buy 3 sets (the first three options I listed above), but my wallet is saying, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!" I might buy 2 sets. I will probably buy at least 1 set. I'm using set to describe 2 pairs of boots (all 4 legs covered in the same boot). Help!

    1. I think I am leaning towards the Silver with Black Fleece and the Navy ones... Getting all of them. Because in reality, I don't need the browns... the navy would serve that purpose just fine... and I still have my chewed Black and White ones which can ride when it's sloppy out... and then the Silver and Black can be the fancy pants pair!

  2. White/white or black/white is a really good basic dressage look. Black/black looks classy on a bay.

    I already had white/white, so I got navy/white and LOOOOOOOVE. :D

The silver are super pretty too. That was tempting.

    1. So glossy black on black, glossy silver on black, white on black, black on white, brown on white, navy on white. Now I'm up to 6 sets of 4. Completely affordable.... wait what? Hahaha!!!

  4. Black/black. Glossy, because I wouldn't be brave enough but you'd rock it :)

  5. I really want white/white, but black/black matches our stuff better. Can only afford one. Heeeelp me! (Obviously splint boots are needed now. Dammit creature.)

I like navy for Penn. Or white to match his legs.

    1. So question. I did googling about splint boots and what they actually do and it basically came down to another form of strike protection. So why do splint instead of something like fuzzy boots?

    2. Fuzzy boots? Basically I normally only ride in polos, but that's not enough protection for that bone when fitting back up in a month. So he'll need some sort of boot.

    3. Sorry, I usually refer to DSB as fuzzy boots haha. Ohhhh durrrrrrrr I misread your comment. I thought you meant you needed splint boots and these DSB wouldn't work for you!!!! White/White would look stunning on him. I love the contrast of the white/white on chestnuts.

  6. Black Patent with black fleece would be so fancy and pretty, but for myself I did white/white for my brown horse and black outside with white fleece for my gray. The thing is, no matter what color you pick, they'll look nice because they ARE nice. 😍

    1. I'm sure they will be!! I ordered two sets of 4... So Penn will have 3 complete sets. So no worries on each of yours having 3 sets each! I'm going to surprise everyone!
