April 30, 2017 - June 27, 2019
Liam's stay with me was brief. I bought him on April 13, 2019 after my search for Penn's replacement wasn't yielding any horses. He was a special case: a 2 year old I knew since he was born and he was bred by a friend. He was fancy and special and everything I wanted, just in a package that needed another year or two to grow up. I decided that wasn't a big deal and I could enjoy doing groundwork and laying the base to eventually ride him.
Sadly, fate did not agree. He became neurological at the end of May 2019 leading to an eventual diagnosis of Wobbler's at OSU. He was not a surgical candidate since he was grade 4/5 on the neurological scale and had advanced neck arthritis.
His good sense of self-preservation made him take it easy in his day to day life. He would not trot or canter on his own, but he was still very unsteady on his feet. We let him go on June 27, 2019 while he was still happy and uninjured.
He still took a piece of my heart with him. |
