Mikey's blood work came back clean, just low in protein. The vet usually recommends the horse go on alfalfa pellets when that happens, but Mikey is already on them, so she's thinking right now. If anyone has any suggestions, please share! His problems are outlined in
my previous post.
Maybe a muscle building supplement high in protein? Or a top dress of a ration balancer? I love ration balancer for extra goodies. Might not play well if he already has a good supply of vit/minerals.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about trying to hunt down a muscle building supplement. Do they make protein powder for horses? Haha! I've never heard of a ration balancer. He eats nutrena fuel and boost and then alfalfa pellets and his only supplement right now is msm. Do you mean if his feed is already balanced or if he's on other vit/minerals?
DeleteI think they do make a horse protein supplement. A ration balancer is a top dressing that's usually something like 32% protein. It's usually used for horses that don't eat enough grain to get their vitamins and minerals, so it supplements them.
